voices from the past...
~*~
Not sure what prompted me to dig these vintage records out of the garage today. I was actually going to throw them in the garbage -- but I realized that I DO have a 78 rpm setting on my record player -- so I ended up listening to them instead. The copyright on the "Diamond Record" label is 1909. So, that means that the man who is singing on that record did so over 100 years ago. The singing man has no name -- it is just labeled "baritone solo". From the pile of about 20 records, so far I've listened to 3. I would like to think that these records belonged to my great grandparents -- but even if they didn't -- this would be the kind of music they would have listened to "back in the day"... a long... long... time ago.

...my favorite idol winner so far...! :-)
Hold on, to me as we go
As we roll down this unfamiliar road
And although this wave is stringing us along
Just know you’re not alone
Cause I’m going to make this place your home
Settle down, it'll all be clear
Don't pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found
Just know you’re not alone
Cause I’m going to make this place your home...

a mr. flanagan kind of day...
While I was growing up, we lived directly across the street from a house with a small porch. There was a big tree in front of the house that gave privacy to anyone who wanted to sit in the single chair that was always out there in the warmer weather. I remember Mr. Flanagan (he always seemed "old" to me) sitting out there on a day like today. A day with light rain... birds chattering... and, the scent of plants, dirt, water... life... :-)

lovely and busy...
I took advantage of the beautiful weather this morning to give you a peek at what's going on in our garden. The irises are very happy today -- and the roses are following right behind them. Our lawn is "under repair". We had a ton of "quack grass" splotches -- not sure of where that came from because not many lawns around here have it. The orange sign you see in the background is evidence of the solar panels that we are having installed. The "solar guys" were here yesterday -- today the inspector will make a visit -- tomorrow the solar guys are back....
Hope your day is lovely and busy too!
