a garden legacy...

a little hosta  taken from Larry's garden in 2008 grew into this lush plant...

and now it has been divided into 4 plants that surround the new Kanzan cherry tree...

and, then we took the plant to the right of the butterfly bush...

and split it into two...

I think Larry would be happy! :-)

pink tulips...

What?  You don't see any pink tulips?  The packaging showed pink tulips.  There are a few little pink ones, but the majority are red with white, or, white with red.  According to Nicholas -- the boy who believes that his 9th grade biology class is a waste of time -- this is a case of "incomplete dominance".

Even though I am disappointed that they are not all pink, I  am happy there are so many, and I do think they are quite lovely.  :-)

bright new beginnings...

This year, April 15 was a good day.  The Kanzan cherry tree was planted, and, our neighbors welcomed their new baby girl to the world.

Oh, right... and, Uncle Sam decided to wait until April 18 for his income tax forms.

Maybe things are changing for the better... :-)

happy little cherry tree...

Here is the cherry tree that we planted in our backyard last year.  She looks very happy today!  I think it's because she knows that her "sister" will be coming home with Rick today -- to be planted in the front yard.  We went to the nursery yesterday to look at trees and decided against getting a Redbud for the front yard.  I didn't like the appearance of the bare tree.  I fell in love with a Kanzan cherry tree instead.  It is pretty when it is bare, and when it blooms it will have pink double flowers...

I will post photos after it is planted.  :-)

yard work...

Today was lawn thatching day.  Rick did the thatching and cleanup.  Sofia did handstands.  I took photos.  Nicholas stayed in the house and played a game on Xbox.  Yard work goes so much quicker when everyone helps!  :-)

let's talk about strawberries...

I bought these yummy strawberries yesterday.  Anyone have advice on the best way to keep them in the refrigerator?

P.S.  I don't like the way they behave after freezing -- I prefer to eat them fresh! :-)

the view keeps changing...

Here is a view of  the man cave part of the basement since this post

Here is Rick working in the "secret closet"...

I'll do a video walkthrough once the sheetrock is all up.  :-)
